This collection of original compositions by Colin Tanser includes music for a variety of lyres and combinations.
In some cases there is music for ‘solo lyre’ – an instrument with a wide range which Colin played masterfully. These pieces could also be adapted to be played by more than one lyre.

Arion Two pieces based on the following Greek myth:
Arion was the most gifted lyre player of his time and was captured by pirates on his way back from winning a music competition. The pirates gave him the choice of committing suicide or being thrown in the sea to perish. Arion asked to play a last song to win time, and this song brought dolphins around the ship, one of which rescued him when he threw himself into the sea. This dolphin died and is represented by the constellation Delphinus.

About the Author
Throughout his life Colin sustained a deep love for music which manifested in many diverse directions. His first instrument was piano, then the organ. He played flute, all the recorders, French horn, tuba, accordion, banjo, double bass, classical guitar, harp, and the lyre which he was always enthusiastic to promote. His lyre music has been very much appreciated and admired.
He studied music in college, then taught in schools, becoming Head of Department. Colin inspired many people through his modest nature and his love of music.
Born in 1943, Colin died on the 26th June 2021, during the time of St. Johns.
