Thornbury Days

Thornbury Days
A collection of songs relating to the days of the week
by Colin Tanser

The songs are simple and melodic, designed for a wide range of participants.
The music is presented in 2 separate ways for either singing unaccompanied, or with the simple voices and parts shown.
Instrumental choice is at the discretion of the performer, but it is suggested that the Tone of the Day is played before each song.

Sunday                     A
Monday                    B
Tuesday                   C
Wednesday              D
Thursday                  E
Friday                       F
Saturday                  G

The days of the week are related to specific planets, and the so-called ‘Planetary Scales’ are used in these songs in their mirror form:
Upward movements in each song follow the corresponding mode comprising the ‘white’ notes of the piano in a scale, each taken from a different starting point.
With downward movements, the scale is mirrored by inversion – a move of an interval in the rising scale becomes a movement of the same interval downwards.
